Puili-Hawaiian Rhythm Sticks

Children will love these unusual rhythm activities using Puili sticks, a small version of authentic Hawaiian split bamboo sticks. Puili sticks are a wonderful addition to any rhythm instrument programme and are an excellent means of developing coordination and perceptual motor skills. Children will have little difficulty practicing by themselves as the activities are easily and quickly learnt. Unlike other types of rhythm sticks, Puilis are hollow pieces of bamboo that are split at one end to create a variety of delightful sounds. Seated, individual activities using one and two sticks, and seated partner activities using only one stick are presented. The activities vary in difficulty so that they may be used with several age and skill levels. In general, the opening activities on the CD are the easiest and they become more difficult as the album progresses.
